Mountains of Faith: VE Move-a-thon 2026
Earlier this month, my family and I took a road trip to Alberta. We drove up to Lake Louise to experience the beauty of the ancient mountains. The view was stunning as our van headed higher into the majestic Rockies. Their jagged, snow-tipped edges carve the sky. The trees paint the mountain side with beautiful shades of green, and the lake shimmers with ripples of vibrant turquoise water — God’s incredible creation is such an awe-inspiring reminder of His eternal love and faithfulness.
As I took in the scenery, wave after wave of God's Word washed over me. I was reminded of what the author of Hebrews said in chapter 11, verse 3:
“Faith empowers us to see that the universe was created and beautifully coordinated by the power of God’s words! He spoke and the invisible realm gave birth to all that is seen.”
Before the Heavens and the Earth were made, before the Rocky Mountains were heaved into place, God brought the universe into being by speaking it into existence. He continues to speak life-giving words over us as well.
You know, as solid and as massive as the mountains are, they are still changeable. Weather and water erode them. Tectonic plates and earthquakes alter them. Machines and explosives cut through them.
But God is unchangeable and unshakeable. We can put our trust, our faith, in our unshakeable God and His unshakeable love for each of us! Nothing we have done will keep us from His love. His gift of forgiveness is real. God wants to listen to us, talk to us, and help us become all that He has created us to be. We need to remember that our faith is in an unshakeable God who moves mountains that might be impossible for us but not for Him. In Matthew 17, verse 20, Jesus said to his disciples,
“If you have faith inside of you no bigger than the size of a small mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move away from here and go over there,’ and you will see it move! There is nothing you can't do!”
What is your mountain? What is the obstacle you wish God would change?
For me, I wrestled with God at a young age about why I was in a wheelchair. Believe it or not, I was fearful whenever another person in a wheelchair rolled up to me. I wasn’t at a point where I could relate to them, so I would try to get away as fast as I could. I didn’t like to see videos of myself either. I was desperate for God to heal me by letting me walk. But God was healing me in so many other ways that I couldn’t see or understand yet.
God gave me time to grow in my faith in Him. I read about how He gave opportunities to people who felt too weak, too young, too old, or felt like nobodies. I came to understand that God had a purpose and a plan for me whether I was in a wheelchair or not. God gave me a new way of thinking about my situation. A mountain moved for me because I was learning to trust God more.
As a teenager in Missouri, I knew God had a purpose for me to help other families living with disability, like all of our families here, get connected with God and the church, but it wasn't until I got involved with Village Eulogia that I could start to see God’s plan for me. Getting to help with worship and fundraising has opened up opportunities for me to do other things, too. God keeps moving mountains!
The author of Hebrews 11 tells us in verse 1:
“Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.”
Faith is a lifelong journey that is filled with hopes, hardships, blessings, and God's grace-filled love. Sometimes we wrestle with God about the hard things we encounter, and sometimes we celebrate the blessings, no matter how small or big they are. Village Eulogia means Village of Blessing. It has really been a blessing to me, and I’m thankful to be a part of this village.
The one and only true God created this world for us and wants us to put our faith in Him. When we put our trust in God, we draw closer to him.
Maybe you are going through a difficult season.
Maybe you have felt like God isn't answering your prayers the way you wanted.
Maybe God is calling you to do something, and you are questioning Him.
I’m learning that the more we get to know God, the more we can trust Him to move mountains with His unshakeable love for us, so that we can have an unshakeable faith in Him and His very good plans for us.
